Part dance club, part book club, part support group, part trivia night, and part crafting circle.
Welcome to the MotivAction Club—a community of over 300 international practitioners dedicated to promoting planet-friendly behaviors.

It is challenging to engage and empower audiences to adopt habits that benefit their future, health, and the planet. While conservation, sustainability, and climate teams are just beginning to weave social science and behavior change strategies into their programs, there is still much to explore and discover about what works.

But you don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Our club hosts engaging mini-workshops, interactive webinars, and supportive email exchanges where we delve into the insights, tools, and techniques that drive meaningful and lasting change.

And we would love for you to join us! 🙌

We dance a little 💃, share plenty of laughs 🤣, and learn a ton 💡 about what it truly takes to implement successful behavior change programs in the real world.

Step into the club to connect with like-minded professionals tackling similar projects, enjoy judgment-free support for your initiatives, and elevate your skills in motivating action for our planet!

Membership costs $120/year, which can be paid annually or monthly ($10/month). Click here to see membership details.

2025 Trends to Watch
Let's explore what's in store for 2025! This year's trend presentation includes global consumer shifts that may impact our outreach approaches and political shifts that may challenge our funding and progress. There will be opportunities during the webinar to consider how emerging trends may impact your projects this year and worksheets to use afterward.

The Art of Shaping Choice Architecture
Choice architecture is a behavioral science tool that draws our audience's attention to sustainable choices and decisions. Building upon the "Becoming a B.S. Artist" series, this webinar helps you determine whether choice architecture is a good fit for your program and how to implement it effectively. During the webinar, you will have opportunities to practice organizing various contexts to influence sustainable choices.

The Three Types of Behaviors
Actions, Routines, and Habits - OH MY! In this webinar, we will break down the term "behaviors" into three distinct categories and identify how to tailor outreach programs for each category. You will have opportunities to practice identifying different behaviors during the webinar and worksheets to apply concepts to your project.

The Art of Crafting Scarcity
When items or experiences are scarce, people desire them more. This behavioral science tool can help create a burst of demand for our programs, products, and services. However, scarcity can also be implemented inappropriately, putting our causes and audiences at risk of unethical behavior. In this webinar, we will cover best practices for incorporating scarcity into our programs. You will have opportunities to apply scarcity designs to case study examples during the webinar and worksheets to use afterward.

Exploring Internal & External Forces
Based on the Force Field Analysis, we know there are forces that either propel audiences toward sustainable behaviors or work against them. However, it's not always clear why some forces are considered "internal" versus "external." We will use this webinar to explore the difference between internal and external forces for deterrents and motivators. You will have opportunities during the webinar to explore which forces may be impacting your target audience and worksheets to use afterward.

The Fine Art of Gamification & Feedback Loops
Most practitioners incorporate gamification through badges, point systems, and leaderboards. While these techniques are “game design elements” that can provide helpful feedback loops, they do not deliver enough motivation or engagement to constitute a complete gamification approach. In this webinar, we will explore when and where it makes sense to incorporate gamification and feedback loops into your program. You will have opportunities to apply both concepts to case study examples during the webinar and worksheets to use afterward.

Terms of Engagement
In this webinar, we will walk through a four-step process for engaging and activating audiences to take action: the invitation, the conversation, the ask, and the reward. This "big picture" approach to designing behavior change journeys can help spark new ideas for engaging audiences and overcome motivational plateaus the audience faces. You will have opportunities to brainstorm engagement tactics during the webinar and receive worksheets to use afterward.

Writing Motivating Messages
In this writing workshop, we will use behavior change strategies from real-world projects to develop headlines and calls to action, using one message frame at a time. This is a great opportunity to continue practicing the GET/TO/BY and message-writing activities from the Making Moves course.
